FSI has several advisory councils that provide advice and input to FSI’s staff and Board of Directors. These councils meet in-person and by conference call. The councils are:
- Accounting & Finance Council
Provides a forum for members to discuss financial responsibility rules, regulatory reporting and accounting policies and standards.
- Compliance Council
Provides a forum for and to enhance knowledge and comprehension of compliance and supervisory issues.
- Investment Advisory Services Council
Provides a forum for discussion about investment advisory issues.
- Marketing, Growth & Development Council
Provides a forum for discussion about marketing, practice management, recruiting, sponsor relations, advertising and related issues.
- Operations & Technology Council
Provides a forum for members to monitor, assess and profile operations and technology issues.
Council leadership is made up of a Chair, Vice Chair, Immediate Past Chair, and Secretary:
A new Secretary is chosen each year and they are responsible for working with the Chair and Vice Chair to create meeting agendas and also for recording notes to distribute to the group. The Secretary moves into the Vice Chair role when their one-year term is complete.
The Vice Chair is responsible for creating agendas for Discussion meetings at FSI events and for moderating those sessions. The Vice Chair moves into the Chair role when their one-year term is complete.
The Chair is responsible for scheduling council meetings, ensuring all agendas are completed and distributed, and facilitating each meeting. The Chair moves into the Immediate Past Chair role when their one-year term is complete and serves in an advisory capacity to the next leadership group.
FSI also uses task forces for specific projects. Volunteers are recruited annually and meet by conference call. Current task forces are:
- OneVoice Task Force
This Task Force collaborates with FSI staff to design and execute our annual OneVoice conference each January. The Task Force helps develop the vision and theme for the meeting, determine keynote speakers, topics for education sessions and potential speakers for those topics.The Task Force is comprised of a Task Force Chair and track coordinators for each of the six tracks: CEO, Compliance, Due Diligence, Investment Advisory Services, Marketing, Growth & Development and Operations & Technology, as well as one representative from each of FSI’s Ambassador and Premier Sponsor firms.
- FSI Forum Task Force
This Task Force collaborates with FSI staff to design and execute our annual FSI Forum. The Task Force helps develop the vision and theme for the meeting, determine keynote speakers, topics for education sessions and potential speakers for those topics.
