FSI Forum & Capitol Hill Day 2023: Reuniting In-Person for Advocacy & Networking

June 23, 2023

To make a more robust experience for our members, we combined our popular FSI Forum and Capitol Hill Day events in 2019. Holding them back-to-back proved to be extremely successful, and we received terrific feedback. Unfortunately, six months later, COVID turned the world upside down.

Like everyone else, we pivoted to virtual events and continued our advocacy efforts without skipping a beat. However, persistent restrictions at the Capitol prevented us from meeting face-to-face with lawmakers for the past three years. Thankfully, that has changed.

For the first time since we combined the events, we will gather once again in person in Washington, D.C. on September 18 – 20. FSI Forum will kick things off, followed by meetings with lawmakers and staff in their offices during Capitol Hill Day.

FSI Forum

FSI Forum is a must-attend event where FSI members learn about the latest legislative and regulatory issues facing the industry, while gaining practical tips for improving their businesses and best serving their clients. It is also a fantastic opportunity to network with peers from across the independent financial services industry.

The event begins Monday afternoon with our popular Advancing Women in Leadership pre-conference workshop, featuring Lori Firsdon, who will share her secrets on organizing and simplifying your life at both work and home. Monday will continue with an opening reception.

Tuesday’s schedule is packed with general sessions, keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking breaks. You’ll hear from:

  • SEC Commissioner Mark T. Uyeda as he outlines recent developments at the Commission
  • Bruce Mehlman of Mehlman Consulting, detailing the latest news from Washington, D.C.
  • Labor law experts who share insights and updates on the DOL independent contractor rule and what it means for our industry

Capitol Hill Day

The event will wrap up on Wednesday with a full day of meetings on Capitol Hill. This is your opportunity to participate as a citizen advocate and share your perspectives and stories with key lawmakers.

For elected officials, few things are as impactful as meeting constituents personally to hear their concerns. When lawmakers listen to their voters, it makes a difference in how they view the issues and, in our case, they can better understand the significant role you play in providing Main Street Americans with affordable, professional financial advice and services.

Numbers Matter

The more voices we bring to Capitol Hill, the more significant our impact will be. Remember, no lobbying or policy expertise is required to make a difference during these meetings. You are already an expert on how you serve your clients and how certain laws, rules and regulations impact your business.

Even so, FSI’s Advocacy Team will be on hand to help you navigate meetings with lawmakers and their staff to ensure you are prepared. You will also receive training and talking points prior to going on the Hill.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn valuable insights, meet with your congressional leaders and build relationships that will pay dividends beyond FSI Forum & Capitol Hill Day.
